Minister Trenggono: Maritime and Fisheries Investment Reaches IDR 9.56 Trillion


The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) recorded that investment realization in the marine and fisheries sector reached IDR 9.56 trillion by the third quarter of 2023. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, in ensuring sustainable development of the marine and fisheries sector, has implemented five blue economy policy directions including large marine conservation areas, quota-based measurable fishing, sustainable development of coastal and inland marine aquaculture, supervision and control of coasts and small islands, and cleaning up plastic waste in the sea. In order to meet the availability of protein without reducing fish stocks in the sea, KKP is committed to encouraging the aquaculture sector to become a prime mover to provide the need for consumption fish, namely through modeling development in 5 commodities with high commodity value, namely shrimp, seaweed, tilapia, lobster and crab. KKP has established area-based shrimp cultivation in Kebumen, saline tilapia cultivation in Karawang, seaweed cultivation in Wakatobi, and lobster cultivation in Batam. Trenggono also plans to build a modern shrimp pond in Waingapu, NTT with an investment value of IDR 7.8 trillion. Closing his remarks, Trenggono invited ambassador representatives to invest in Indonesia. He stated that the Indonesian government is committed to providing easy licensing, incentives, security and stability of the political climate, as well as connectivity for skilled human resources as workers. "We hope that this investment opportunity can be utilized as widely as possible by all investors to jointly contribute to realizing an advanced, resilient, sustainable and highly competitive Indonesian marine fisheries industry," he said.
